JPG to WebP accepts image/jpeg. JPG to WebP produces WebP.

For JPG to WebP, pNG output can retain canvas alpha. For JPG to WebP, webP or AVIF alpha depends on browser decoding and encoding support; re-encoding is not a guarantee that every source feature is retained.

For JPG to WebP, lossy output quality is passed to the browser canvas encoder, or clamped to 10–100 by the HEIC server path. For JPG to WebP, pNG canvas output ignores the lossy quality argument. For JPG to WebP, the setting is not a target file size.

For JPG to WebP, browser image paths draw decoded pixels to canvas and encode a new file. For JPG to WebP, the code does not copy EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, original filenames, animation frames, or other source metadata into the canvas output.

For JPG to WebP, success depends on the current browser being able to decode the selected source format and encode the requested canvas MIME type. For JPG to WebP, unsupported AVIF or WebP codecs can cause loading or output-type failure.
