PNG to WebP accepts image/png. PNG to WebP produces WebP.
For PNG to WebP, pNG output can retain canvas alpha. For PNG to WebP, webP or AVIF alpha depends on browser decoding and encoding support; re-encoding is not a guarantee that every source feature is retained.
For PNG to WebP, lossy output quality is passed to the browser canvas encoder, or clamped to 10–100 by the HEIC server path. For PNG to WebP, pNG canvas output ignores the lossy quality argument. For PNG to WebP, the setting is not a target file size.
For PNG to WebP, browser image paths draw decoded pixels to canvas and encode a new file. For PNG to WebP, the code does not copy EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, original filenames, animation frames, or other source metadata into the canvas output.
For PNG to WebP, success depends on the current browser being able to decode the selected source format and encode the requested canvas MIME type. For PNG to WebP, unsupported AVIF or WebP codecs can cause loading or output-type failure.
PNG to WebP enforced limits: Quality control: 10–100 for non-PNG output; One source image matching the page accept list The browser paths declare no application-level byte limit. For PNG to WebP, browser memory, maximum canvas dimensions, and device resources can still prevent large images from completing.
For PNG to WebP, the selected file is read and re-encoded in the browser; this page code does not upload it to the application server.
PNG to WebP sample input: One small PNG image accepted by the page; output filename = converted-image. PNG to WebP expected result: The expected result is a decoded and re-encoded webp download in the output format selected or fixed by the page. To verify PNG to WebP, reproduce its worked example and compare the displayed or downloaded webp with the stated expected result. When PNG to WebP returns a file, open the download and inspect every affected page or image.
